The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, today announced the launch of a new consortium for companies preparing products for the IEEE 802.3ba standard for high speed Ethernet. The consortium is currently accepting founding member companies who will have an early opportunity to provide input into the testing process and have market ready products as the high speed Ethernet standards evolve.

Bringing its testing and interoperability facilities to bear on the newest Ethernet standard from the IEEE, the University of New Hampshire’s InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) said it is establishing a consortium for companies trialing 40- and 100-Gbps Ethernet systems. Ratified last month, the new 802.3ba standard specifies two new Ethernet speeds: 40G for computing and networked storage applications and 100G for core networking applications.
