The UNH Interoperability Lab Launches MultiGBASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet Testing

DURHAM, N.H., March 25, 2025 -- The University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of comprehensive testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, is excited to announce the addition of MultiGBASE-T1 testing to their Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) services. This new testing feature expands performance and compliance testing for speeds of 2.5, 5, and 10 Gbps for Automotive Ethernet.

MultiGBASE-T1 represents the latest advancement in high-performance Ethernet standards, designed to meet the power demands of in-vehicle networks and Automotive Ethernet interfaces. As part of the movement towards zonal architecture's alongside 10BASE-T1S, MultiGBASE-T1 enables ethernet communication mechanisms to be used throughout an automobile, greatly simplifying network designs, and system maintenance for camera links.

“SPE is revolutionizing the automotive networking industry through redefining in-vehicle infrastructures, which is exciting for the automotive market capabilities and our members,” said Jason Sisk, SPE Technical Manager at UNH-IOL. “By expanding our compliance testing, we can help ensure and build confidence in Automotive Ethernet applications through ensuring devices will perform properly according to OPEN Alliance and IEEE 802.3 compliance test specifications. With these efforts alongside our members' involvement across the industry, we can help promote interoperability of the MultiGBASE-T1 devices.”

Automotive Ethernet provides a robust and flexible communication infrastructure that effectively helps support the connectivity and automation expected in today and tomorrow’s automotive industry. Since 2010, the UNH-IOL has been offering automotive services, including conformance testing for OPEN Alliance and IEEE standards, alongside hosting plugfests to further validate different technologies for automotive applications. With over 35 years of experience in the data and networking sector, the IOL is also a registered participant in the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX®), ensuring compliance with the security requirements for data management in the European automotive industry.
