Marketing Communications Assistant

UNH-IOL is seeking a dynamic, self-starter to assist the marketing and communications team. The Marketing Communications Assistant will work with the Communications Manager to implementing organizational communications and marketing strategies. This individual is a team-player with a positive outlook, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to gain industry exposure working in a cutting-edge technology organization.

You will help contribute to ideas, create content for social media and blog posts, and research members and industry trends with the opportunity to grow and learn valuable skills that will help you transition into the workforce. 

Roles and Responsibilities

We’ll teach you how to:

  • Support our day-to-day marketing mission through market engagement, member engagement, and working with IOL staff to generate marketing communications and promotional campaigns. 
  • Post to and monitor our social media platforms: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook.  
  • Post lead generation/promotion campaigns in our marketing automation application, Marketing Cloud by Salesforce. 
  • Use our project management application, ClickUp, to help keep projects and teams on target. 
  • Contribute to marketing campaigns by creating content for promotion campaigns.
  • Create reports and metrics on email, website, and social media usage.
  • Provide event management support for IOL industry events or UNH hosted events.
  • Use the Adobe Suite creative tools Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator.

The University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) is a globally recognized independent test lab dedicated to being the world's premier data networking resource. Located in Durham, the IOL tests company devices for interoperability, conformance, and certification before they are available. We test networking, data, telecommunications, and storage products used in everyday life.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

  • Working toward a college degree in a related field, e.g., English, marketing, communications, advertising, business, computer science, etc.
  • Curious, fast-learning, and resourceful
  • Self-motivated, hardworking in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong communication skills

Work Hours and Availability 

  • During the semester, you must be available between 12 and 20 hours/week, Monday through Friday, between 9 AM and 6 PM.
  • Summer, winter, and spring breaks work 30-40 hrs/week.
  • Work days do not have to be consecutive and can be during the week based on your availability; for example, working Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and working around your academic calendar. 
  • Hours can be flexible to accommodate vacation time and school commitments. Open communication with your supervisor about any schedule changes is necessary.
