The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) is currently recruiting ambitious, academically outstanding students entering their senior year of high school to work alongside the staff at its 32,000 square foot facility located two miles off campus. UNH-IOL working with OPASTCO to improve rural telecom

The lab has signed an agreement with teamed with OPASTCO (Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telecommunications Companies) to build a joint testing program that will verify interoperability for companies whose Internet Protocol (IP) telecommunications equipment must work together in networks throughout Canada and the United States.

Dave Estes, a research and design engineer in the UNH-IOL's 10Gigabit Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet consortiums took part in the December 2008 FPGA ((field-programmable gate arrays) Summit panel on the topic of end-user experience. Estes gave a brief introduction to one of the lab's unique FPGA tools and explained how students gain deep experience with the FPGA design environment as well as with the technology for which they are developing the test tool.
